I'm Suzie Heinen, the ESoL (English for Speakers of other Languages) teacher for Eisenhower Elementary, MacArthur Elementary, and Patton Jr. High. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University. I taught Pre-K for one year and then 1st grade for seven years. Upon completing my Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis on English as a Second Language from Kansas State University, I began working with the ESoL program in the school district.
As a military spouse encompassing a 30 year career, I'm very familiar with the unique dynamic and needs of military families. My travels have taken me around the globe and I've learned that our wonderful planet contains many fascinating people and cultures. I'm excited to work with students who are from different areas of the world or who may speak another language other than English, which is a wonderful talent to possess! Throughout the year I hope to guide my students through the many twists and turns of the English language, exchanging learning with my students, so that we enrich one another on a variety of cultural differences.
