good morning like eagles I feel bringing you your money morning news on the technology coordinator here at Eisenhower so you'll probably see me around working on computers and technology in the building today is Monday August 21st 17 + today is a D-Day today for lunch in the delicious Ike cafeteria we have entree one which is a hot dog on a bun broccoli Cuts barbecue Crest peaches and strawberry salad carotene in your choice of milk or entree to BBQ chicken on a bun on three sun butter and jelly uncrustable and entree for chef salad with diced chicken and a roll and now it's birthday time happy birthday to Rowan and mrs. Hertz class you are invited to the front office to pick out your Eisenhower birthday book with the lovely Miss Patsy and also happy birthday to mrs. Blaine and the power lap and happy birthday yesterday to mrs. boils and first grade recent events today is the day we hope you are excited for the solar eclipse stay tuned for the veil for the very important video at the end of the announcements today we care about all of you and want you to keep you and your eyes safe so that a wonderful day and remember it's a great day to be a knock eagle I missed your phone the educational Theatre instructor you know the guy from over at Bradley this Monday August 21st we've got a total eclipse of the Sun that will be occurring right here over Fort Leavenworth this is for most people a once-in-a-lifetime thing okay so today I'm here to talk to you a little bit about ice safety when we're viewing the total so Great Clips everybody in the district the students and teachers staff members have all got total solar eclipse viewing glasses these were purchased over 6 months ago so we don't have the problem with the counterfeit glasses and things okay this glasses are dark enough that we are able to view the sun while it's up during its partial phase of the eclipse so too the Sun what you need to do is you need to take your solar eclipse glasses you need to look at the ground and then put your glasses so that you're not looking at the sun when you do that and then when you have those on you want to take a look then up in the sky restaurant we will have to wear these glasses and again when you take them off look down at the ground we will have to wear these glasses during the partial eclipse phases of The Sun UK what we will do at each of the schools as we will have someone that will an when you need to have the glasses on and then when it is safe to take them off to view totality totality when we have only the corona that we can see around the Sun and it's about as bright as the full moon so at that time can safely view the totality part of the eclipse without our glasses that will last for approximately a minute and 40 seconds after that time those people that are making the announcements at the school will let everyone that know that is now time to put your glasses back on we have another configuration with the glasses that might work for the younger students Pre-K my garden first grade maybe even second grade we found some of the teachers who have shown me some examples of a paper plate to the solar eclipse glasses for those younger children to give some added protection around their head where is a diagram that you can take a look at and I think some of those lower grade teachers will be making those for their so one of the things that I do want to mention these glasses are very dark so if while we're outside you to walk around maybe to get a drink or to use a restroom or something like that you need to make sure that you take your glasses off because there's your get the ground walking around these glasses are so dark that you won't be able to see anything so we want to make sure that we're safe walking around as well no just one last time as a reminder when you put your glasses on you need to look to the ground put your glasses on and then you can safely view the sun when you take them off look back to the ground and then your glasses  it's been missed your funk and I hope to see you under the Shadow on Monday
