Hi everyone! My name is Nicole Kallo and I am so excited to be Eisenhower’s School Speech Pathologist! It is going to be a wonderful year here!
A little bit about me: I am a native New Yorker from Long Island. I went to Hofstra University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped. I found that while I was student teaching, I had many children on my caseload with special needs. I therefore started my Master’s degree in Special Education/Reading immediately following my graduation at Hofstra. One day after receiving my Master’s Degree, I got married and moved to Killeen, Texas. While teaching in a resource room, I found myself drawn to those kiddos who were having difficulties communicating. I continued to think about those speech and language students that I had in my resource room even after the workday was complete. I realized that my love for speech therapy never left! After some perseverance, I was accepted into Baylor University’s Communication Sciences and Disorders Graduate program. I can proudly say that I am a Baylor Bear graduate. I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist ever since.
I am a proud Military Spouse for over 23 years. In that time, we have moved 11 times (I think!), including our most recent move back to the States from Cheltenham, England. I have had 17 years experience, 11 years in the schools and 6 years in the hospital/rehab/home health setting. I have seen patients (students) as little as 1 month old to geriatric patients as old as 85! Being a military spouse affords me to have experiences as a Speech Pathologist, but my favorite job has always been as a school Speech Pathologist. Ironically, I am back at Fort Leavenworth and I am so happy to be back at Bradley. You see, I was Bradley’s Speech Pathologist back in 2006. It’s good to be back home.
My other job (which is more difficult that being an SLP) is being a loving mother to my 8 year old twins, Timothy and Victoria. They are busy, they are silly, they are funny…they are the loves of my life.
When I’m not busy with school or with the twins, you may find me at the gym or watching Yankee baseball or tearing my hair out rooting for the New York Jets or at Starbucks drinking coffee. I haven't found the nearest Dunkin Donuts but when I do, you can find me here as well!
Stop by, call or message me anytime about your child’s speech and language. Whether you are concerned or have general questions, I am here to help. It’s going to be a fabulous year!!!
